We thought the freestyle miniquad landscape was missing something. When you need a powerful 5? quad to make epic GoPro footage, there are thousands of choices in the marketplace. When you want something small, lightweight, and portable, there are plenty of options as well, but only if you are willing to sacrifice the HD footage from a GoPro. Sure, you could push a 2? or 3? quad to it?s limits and get it to float a Session, but it just won?t fly the same. Not to mention the idea of a $300-$400 camera, plus your expensive quad, ?surviving? between crashes. Posting cool FPV videos is difficult and basically limited to one of those options. Until now.
This is the Acrobrat. A small (163mm), durable, freestyle miniquad designed for 3? props, 13XX(or similar) sized motors, and the Runcam Split Mini HD FPV camera. This setup will give new pilots as well as seasoned experts 5 inch performance, HD video recording, and substantial durability. What differentiates this frame from other 3 inch quads is it?s vibration mitigating ?clean and dirty? frame design, and it?s low CG battery placement.
Using proprietary silicone bushings, we are able to create an anti-vibration barrier between the motors on the base plate and the camera/battery section. The idea is that by unifying the battery, camera and upper frame together in one ?clean? section, it forms a larger mass for the vibrations to move. So having the anti-vibration solution between two large masses should be the most effective at eliminating jello from your footage.
Flight characteristics is just as important. So to eliminate the ?pendulum effect?, we have designed the top mounted battery location to be placed as low as possible, and of course, held securely by Ummagrip. The spread out symmetrical X layout, also gives us the most stability and smooth flying characteristics.
